ABOUT / DIRECTIONS



From the North
  • Turn right on La Jolla Village Drive and drive for about 0.8 miles.
  • Turn Left onto Expedition Way . You will see signs for the Birch Aquarium.
  • After 0.5 miles turn right on Downwind Way. This road is right before the entrance to the Aquarium.
  • After 0.1 miles, Downwind Way hits La Jolla Shores Drive . Right before the intersection, there is parking on the left if you possess a S, A, or B class UCSD parking permit. If you do not have a parking permit, you must find street parking along La Jolla Shores Drive.
  • You will see a silver footbridge that crosses above La Jolla Shores Drive. On the west end of the bridge, is the Scripps Visualization Center and IGPP (the wood looking buildings).
  • Refer to the IGPP facility map to determine which building you must go to. The VizCenter is on the top floor of the 4000 Revelle building.


  • From the South
  • Take I-5 north and exit onto La Jolla Parkway (exit 26A).
  • Follow La Jolla Parkway up and over Mt. Soledad and turn right onto La Jolla Shores Drive at the bottom of the hill.
  • After about 1.3 miles of heading north on La Jolla Shores Drive , try and find parking on the street if you do not have a UCSD parking permit.
  • If you possess a UCSD S, A, or B parking permit, you may turn right onto Downwind Way and park in the adjacent parking lot.
  • You will see a silver footbridge that crosses above La Jolla Shores Drive. On the west end of the bridge, is the Scripps Visualization Center and IGPP (the wood looking buildings).
  • Refer to the IGPP facility map to determine which building you must go to. The VizCenter is on the top floor of the 4000 Revelle building.



  • From the Birch Aquarium
  • From the 4-way stop head down the hill (on Downwind way). When you come to the first T-intersection go directly across the street to the narrow footpath way that leads to the silver footbridge.
  • Go up the stairs and take the bridge across the street to the VizCenter.
