LIBRARY / VISUAL OBJECTS / HELP
The visual objects library consists of Fledermaus scene files, Quicktime movies or mpeg movies, web tools (some require Flash) and presentations (Powerpoint or Keynote). These are available for download at no cost to the visitor, but if you have any feedback regarding the visualizations please send us an email at vizinfo@ucsd.edu
Viewing the Fledermaus scene files
o Download the free viewer program iView3D from the IVS 3D website (http://www.ivs3d.com).
This program works on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
o Download a scene file from our Visual Objects Library. If you chose to download a one of the compressed files (these will have an extension .gzip or just .zip), then decompress the
file by simply double clicking on the file or use the unzip, gunzip or tar commands.
o Start iView3D and choose "File > Open Scene File..." to select scene file
o Depending on the size of the scene file and the specifications of your computer, opening a scene file may take between a few seconds to a minute.
o We recommend using a 3 button mouse to navigate through the scene file. There are three basic interactions :
ROTATION : Click the left mouse button and drag left or right to rotate about the vertical axis. Click the left mouse button and drag up or down to rotate about the horizontal axis.
The turntable widgets (seen in the center of the screen) can also be used for rotation if you click and drag on the widget.
TRANSLATION : Click the middle or right button at the location in the scene you wish to examine, this will re-center the view at this point.
ZOOM IN & OUT : With the middle button held down, drag up to zoom in or drag out to zoom out.
o The 'Camera > Reset Camera' menu option can be used to return the view to its initial starting position.
